LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

No chance. Htfe itself is not yet ready. Then development and testing of afterburner version will take more years. Jags will start retiring from 2030. No point spending money to upgrade engine just for 5-6 years of airframe life left.

If we go by theory then more GAN will have better performance than GAs . Similarly more cooling power means better performance too. But in practical a whole lot depends on the tuning of radars and there algorithms. How much power do they draw etc . Fa50 if gets GAN radar it's performance...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

All well and true. But naval aviation is still a mess. Rafale M even if a deal signed this year will still take 3-4 years to deliver. And again they will mostly be carrier based. They will mostly use exocet for naval missions which is equivalent to harpoons for jaguars. Mig29 K are struggling...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Mig 29k are carrier based. Jags are shore based. Different operational posture. Jag based at naliya can attack ships in gwadar port with harpoons . Besides mig29k are too few compared to jaguars.

Jaguars are also used for Maritime strike. They have harpoons iirc. Lca still lacks an anti-ship missile plus double engine of jaguars provide reliability over sea.

NEZ of meteor is approx 100-120 km. IAF won't waste missile by firing beyond NEZ against fighter jets. So it's adequate for Tejas. All these range figures are for slow moving targets like tanker , awacs .

They are being forced to do something about rafale threat from India hence j10 purchase on loan. They want to keep up with India even if just symbolic. But they can't even do that for long. As we are adding their whole GDP in just a single year. Our defence budget soon will be double their...

Yes 50 more mk1a is very logical choice now. More importantly this 32 per year capacity will help in fulfilling mk2 orders very fast.

Uttam is not developed in a vacuum. It is being benchmarked against current operational radars including elta 2052 by Israel which is already deployed on jaguars and is being integrated with initial batch of mk1a. Uttam compares favorably. Other benchmarks are also available in terms of rbe...

I learnt it much later than that video. Retractable probe eats lots of space in nose and includes complex mechanism. And if IAF's most prized warrior rafale has a fixed probe mk2 can also live with it. It doesn't affect rcs that much specially when heavy weapons are involved ( precisely when...

You are thinking too far with g loads and everything else. My point was only about escape motors mechanism which is an ejection system by all means.

Iirc for mk2 they have given up on retractable probe to save time . It will instead have a non - retractable probe just like rafale. But it will be removable for when it's not required. So a plug and play type system.

I guess depends on time. Has indegenous probe developed as of now. If not it will take some time and if Argentina requires delivery faster this will need to be outsourced. For mk2 we are developing refueling probe of our own .
