Beyond this, most developing/middle income nations (including, but not limited to India) are portrayed negatively in their media - this is one reason why India had negative media potrayal even when Modi was not the PM.

You are so right. It's laughable to hear(by implication or directly) that India was highly thought of in the international media before that dark day in May 2014, when Narendra Modi became the PM. Every article on the front page of the Toronto Star, and most of ones on the inside, were negative, sour, sensational, emphasising the calamitous, the brutal, the unpleasant and the bizarre. The only uplifting front page story was in 2010 when India hosted the Commonwealth games. On the inside pages, there was the odd positive story of the first moon mission and Mars mission. Or benign ones about the impressive circulation figures of Indian daily newspapers, and one about the advent of ice hockey in India. But most of them were negative.

And this goes for the Globe and Mail of Toronto as well. The National Post and the Toronto Sun were a little better. The Sun for a while had Tarek Fatah as a columnist, and his writings were very India and Hindu friendly. But that's rare in the Canadian media.

Mandir was built with money and other donations( some folks donated carved pillars and bricks afaik ) from Hindus.
Mudi govt only facilitated the whole affair you know the legal angle and all

Then it must be that they don't want to see India strengthen itself because that would create another economic force that they will have to deal with; they think India should be more compliant to the US; they are losing some degree of market share in the oil trade; some of them still think India will listen very intently to their virtue signalling, whereas they know China won't give them the time of day.
