This exercise is getting bigger and bigger (the biggest exercise navy has ever held?) @binayak95
The international fleet review was probably bigger. This is the IN flexing its muscles.
The Eastern fleet is hosting both carriers and a large number of foreign warships while 12 PSCs from the Western Fleet are holding fort against pirates and houthis in the Gulf.

Until the USN enters into the IOR region. Unless GoI approves IN’s expansion plans of up to 6 carriers, it will never dominate the IOR at all times. All USN needs to do is send two battle groups and they will be the apex force in the region.
even one USN CBG is quite the potent force. The only thing trumps that is the IAF being available for strikes.

As it stands right now, the USN is busy dealing with the houthis, while IN has taken the mantle of convoy escorts and anti piracy

What are the chinese upto ? Other than collecting SIGINT.
As you said collecting SIGINT - one interesting tidbit, PLAN warships have been spotted close to attacked merchantmen once or twice

I am not saying they are providing terminal guidance or anything but ... how the hell the houthis are able to close the kill chain to hit merchantships in the vastness of the arabian sea without having some kind of weapons track is a difficult question.

Iranian INT vessels (such as the ones IN boarded at the beginning of this shenanigan) are one possible answer, but so are PLAN ships, and unlike Iranian ships, which guise themselves as civilian vessels, PLAN warships cannot be boarded and searched
