Is TATA getting any TOT for PW engines in C-295? Which are also in 2000-4000hp category?

What's the 4000 HP project all about ? A clean sheet greenfield project or a derivative of the HTFE - 25 ?
No clarity yet on anything.
The afterburner version of this engine can be used for Jaguar.
That is "can be" per forum members but there is no "will be".
There is no planned aircraft for engine and this is the case and it is hence, not flying where suggestions don't help.

4000hp fits the bill for 80 seater Regional transport AC.
HTFE25 maybe used for Triton/Global hawk like HALE drone.

.
First of all deal was with Airbus not PW. Also, No one gives engine tech like this , such news would've made lot of noise.

ADA gives design , DRDO gives engine and Tata/HAL builds RTA.

Can anyone tell me what exactly went wrong with Saras mk1, it started in 1991 for goodness sake.
Why did it take so much time and is still no where near induction
Even Tejas didn't take this much time

No interest from forces or commercial airliners.
It's a private jet sized plane doesn't add any value to defence forces and airliners will only buy tried and tested products.

NAL is one of the least funded organizations within our Research Orgs. So they started from 1991 in 2001 they had an Prototype ready. But sancitons dragged them and also one of the prototype crashed which killed the test pilots. Then the project under UPA went to ventilator and died in 2016.

Somehow NDA 2 revived it and now they are working on a bigger 19 seater which will be useful in UDAN scheme. Again we don't know the size and funding they are recieving.

Looks like C295 has effectively killed Indian Regional Jet.

Can the C-295 be converted into a 90 seater civilian airliner ?

If not we're probably looking at how the MTA tender pans out assuming the contestants there can perform a dual role.

Otherwise the project is very much alive just that it'd proceed at its own pace.

Most likely scenario, they will be indigenising production of C295 and start making customised variants like they did with Dornier.

Although I have no trust on babus and they will always find ways to kill our industry
But at Max in civilian configuration it can accommodate 46 passengers
How will it stand against 90 seater aircraft
Tough job for babus to convince PM but I trust them in this regards

India is a non-serious country, screw drivering is the best the dispensation can ever think of.

India messed up Dornier aircraft programme. That company was for sale, GoI nor HAL bid for it. Until recently components for Dornier were still imported, after manufacturing it for 30 years. We could have bought the Dornier ac line, customized & indigenized it completely.

We can kiss our dreams of an Indigenous passenger aircraft programmes goodbye and we'll forever import or screwdriver foreign aircrafts for AEW&Cs, ISTAR or Aerial Refuelling tankers etc even after celebrating "Azadi ki Shatabdi ka Amrit Bakchodsav" in 2047 lol.

Will gladly waste tonnes of money on overpriced imported junk in small quantities without any prior trials but won't spare any money for actual indigenous R&D.

Indigenous passenger jet will be there eventually though.

No earlier than 10 years in flight as PSUs would be learning from C295.
No earlier than 15 years in service for all safety clears.

20 years or more for international sales or possibly never since Boeing-Airbus monopoly would do same to India what they did to Russian, Chinese and Japanese airliners.

Simply, No license.

Chongs have COMAC jets and at least reverse engineered C-17 equivalents ready, Russians are still an aerospace power. We need the 'capability' not the scale the duopoly has. We still can't make many aircrafts apart from a few.

I think by that time indian requirements itself will be huge that we won't need to depend on exports to recover cost. Anyways we would have also became a very big economy by that time we can have our own certification agency. We have the framework ready. We should take measures to not let foreigners enter our market.. we should work fast once rta is completed we should go for twin engine narrow body segment. They're is where major chunk of money lies..

Our Plane is under consideration for at least 2 Decades. Let us not discuss that. Our government does not want to make it happen.
