Hello friends, this is a walk along Av. Cordoba in Buenos Aires.
It is an extensive avenue that runs parallel to Santa Fe and Corrientes avenues for a long distance.

It runs 8.2 km through 9 neighborhoods of the city, being a dividing avenue between them. Since 1822, a decree established that from Callao Avenue to the west the artery had to have a width of 30 yards, but in the central section reaching the current Alem Avenue, it was a narrow street since colonial times. It was not until July 1904 that a municipal ordinance forced the removal of the new buildings, allowing the widening of the Callao-Alem section in stages, inaugurated in 1945 by President Edelmiro Farrell, as recalled by a plaque in the square of Córdoba and Callao.

With the world in the energy transition, in Mexico there is increasing interest in the electric vehicle industry, and this is how the Mexican brand Zacua is making its way with its electric cars that promise to change what we understand by urban mobility.

Zacua has captured the public's attention not only because it is a Mexican brand, but also because of the quality and price of its electric cars, which seek to be more affordable than world-known brands in the electric car industry.

In the case of the MX2, this Mexican electric car reaches a maximum speed of 85 km/h with a battery range of about 200 km, since it is designed for use in urban spaces. In addition, it has three different driving modes: ECO, Standard and Sport and automatic transmission.

This model has outstanding safety with ABS disc brakes on all four wheels. On the outside, tinted and electric windows, fog lights and 15" aluminum wheels shine, while on the inside it has cloth seats, a bucket seat with manual adjustment, air conditioning, a sound system with two speakers, Bluetooth, port USB and Apple.

Its measurements are: 3,065 mm long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,442 high, with a wheelbase of 1,370 mm, and it is even provided with a trunk with a capacity of 247.5 liters.

The Zacua MX2 is sold in Mexico with a price of $599,900 pesos, a price that, although higher than its rival, the Renault Twizy, which costs $343,200, is offset by a superior safety system and better quality materials.

The other star model of the Mexican brand is the Zacua MX3, which has the same mechanics and features as the MX2, with the main difference in its design, as well as a larger capacity trunk. Its market price is the same as the MX2: $599,900 Mexican pesos.

Electric cars are still too expensive for most Brazilians. Therefore, a national company is betting on a new 100% Brazilian electric vehicle project.

Tito is a sensation in Latin America, as it is the first electric car made in Argentina and in that country it has achieved more sales than more well-known and prestigious brands on the market.

During July and August, the brand, which has its plant in San Luis, Argentina, sold more units than companies such as Lexus, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi and Mini.

Furthermore, only in Argentina, Tito is the most sought after car on Mercado Libre and in two days it sold out all 500 pre-sale units for its three-door model.

"The number is even more compelling if the purchase intention is analyzed, which in this period rose to almost 737%, demonstrating that new sustainable vehicles are gaining a foothold in the automotive market," the company mentioned in a statement.

Tito, an electric car manufactured by Coradir, does not use fuel, charges in eight hours and has a range of up to 100 thousand meters; Likewise, it reaches a speed of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

Electric mobility made in Argentina has three references in the car segment. Sero Electric (manufactured in the Aeronautical Technological Industrial Park in Morón, Buenos Aires); Tito and the Tita truck (manufactured by Coradir in San Luis) and Volt (produced by Volts Motors, in Córdoba).

Each model was presented at different times and goes through dissimilar realities. The first to be marketed in private areas was Sero Eléctric, in 2015, who in June 2019 obtained the Model Configuration License (LCM) and was authorized to circulate on public roads (not highways).

The Tito electric car was launched exactly one year later, in June 2020, while the Tita truck was launched in July 2021. It is the one that resonates the most within this niche, since it has 193 patented units in 2022, surpassing even other electric cars from massive brands.

The third electric car in question is the Volt, which despite being launched in 2018, has not yet managed to begin its industrial marketing phase. To find out the situation, Iprofesional visited the company's facilities in Córdoba exclusively, where in addition to seeing the evolution of the model, he agreed to the plans that the group has to go out and fight its national rivals.

Rising sales for Argentine electric cars
In the latest annual report published by the association that brings together the main car manufacturers in Argentina (ADEFA), the encouraging figure of 7,846 units of ecological cars (hybrid and electric) marketed during 2022 was reflected. A small amount, but which speaks of a growth of 30% compared to the previous year.

In this ranking, the Tito surprised with its almost 200 units sold, while the Sero Eléctric barely achieved 10 sales. While the Volt did not have any patents last year (in 2021 it had 3 patented cars according to Acara).

The Volt Electric in one of the production phases
The Volt Electric in one of the production phases.
Given these results, engineer Daniel Parodi, CEO and founder of Volt Motors, said that he is working on the electric car in a stealthy manner and with structural changes in the engineering team to start a new era of the Volt, which will finally begin this year. the path towards industrialization with a model that is far from the one that was exhibited years ago, and in a few months it will see great changes.

Daniel Parodi, CEO and founder of Volt, with the work team.

How much will the Volt electric car cost?
The Volt electric car in its passenger version will cost around US$22,000, while the cargo version will cost around US$15,000.

Parodi tries not to refer to his rivals, although it is difficult not to. For this reason, the CEO is quick to highlight the strong engineering work within the Córdoba company, which has more engineers than operators, a reality that is unparalleled with respect to his rivals, according to Parodi.

"We develop our dies, we design them, we machine them and we produce our parts, which make up 60% of the car. The Sero Electric has an Italian design, while the Tito is a Chinese CKD. In fact, you can see that car in Uruguay with another brand," he clarified.

The Volt is designed in Argentina.

What the engineer expressed is correlated after showing you an important ship. In it, details were being finalized in the assembly of a production line that will be operational in a few months: "The idea is to have the capacity to produce about 500 Volt per year," anticipated one of the engineers as we moved between the facilities.
1695629740478.png

But that is not all. To this first production line, in which the electric car will go through eight phases, a second line will be added in the next six months, with which the firm assures that it will be able to reach 3,000 units per year.

Argentina is increasingly using the Draw of Rights concept to repay loans in the Chinese Yuan. This has considerably made it easier for the Argentine government to repay the loans as the bulk of their trading is done in Yuan between China and Argentina.

This is despite the Yuan not being a convertible currency in the international market. I feel that the cheapest and most convenient way for Latin American countries these days is to switch to the Yuan in making non-trade and non-oil transactions while retaining trade dollars for the US/Europe-bound trade.

Argentina shifts from Dollar to Yuan for IMF settlements

First prototype is presented to the General Staff
Editor
November 16, 2023
Highlight, Guarani, EB Strategic Notes

The Cascavel armored vehicle modernization project is at an advanced stage, following the schedule established by the Brazilian Army.

Last week, the first prototype of the reconnaissance vehicle was presented for the Basic Course and Cavalry Course at the Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras (AMAN), in Resende (RJ). The ceremony was attended by Army General Fernando José Sant’Ana Soares e Silva, chief of the Army General Staff, and the commander of AMAN, Major General João Felipe Dias Alves.

The Cascavel modernization project is carried out by the Força Terrestre consortium, led by AKAER, in close collaboration with the Brazilian Army, through the Manufacturing Directorate. It has significant importance for Brazil's sovereignty, expanding the EB's operational capacity with new and modern resources.

Updates

The Cascavel NG (New Generation) prototype was presented to the Army General Staff command with the automotive platform, the main armament turret and the 90mm cannon turning and elevation mechanisms.

The commander and gunner's optronics package was integrated with corresponding monitors, control panels, joysticks and the PAN/TILT platform (stabilizing platform). During the presentation, the scope was also demonstrated, which offers the shooter a magnified view of 4 to 12 times.

On the automotive platform, in addition to the new powertrain, air conditioning, braking system and new driver panel, one of the major developments was the installation of the new vision package with four cameras and complete situational awareness, allowing a 360° range of the environment around the vehicle. With 100% digital operation, it allows permanent hatching.

“Advances in the Cascavel modernization project reinforce AKAER’s firm commitment to innovation and excellence in the Defense industry. It also symbolizes the Brazilian Army's continued commitment to redefining standards and driving progress in its initiatives”, highlighted the CEO of the AKAER Group, Cesar Silva.

The project

The Cascavel armored vehicle modernization project involves:

Complete revitalization of the chassis, turret, transmission, suspension and 90 mm cannon;
Replacement of the engine with a more powerful and modern version;
Tire pressure adjustment system adaptable to all types of terrain;
Implementation of state-of-the-art optronics (replacing optical sights) integrated into a new shooting computer, responsible for executing all ballistic calculations, providing a significant increase in shooting accuracy;
Implementation of a command and control computer (C2) to analyze sensors that read environmental parameters that interfere with the execution of missions, in real time, giving greater operational awareness to the commander;
Implementation of an anti-tank missile launcher system (ATGM) in the tower;
Installation of an air conditioning system to improve the crew environment.
According to the Army Chief of Staff, General Fernando José Sant’Ana Soares e Silva, the modernization of Cascavel represents an important advance.

“This vehicle is the skeleton, it is the backbone of our Mechanized Forces. And this modernization is carried out together with the National Industry. This is important to highlight, because those who do not have a Defense Industry do not have sovereignty”, highlighted the general at the end of July, during a presentation of the project at the São Paulo War Arsenal.

Bernardo Urriza, professor at the Tec de Monterrey Mexico City campus, designed a compact electric car in the venture called ANSSATZ, which is already being marketed.

“I created a company and brand called ANSSATZ dedicated to electromobility. In it I make electric sports cars, golf cars and intelligent robotics.

“Now in the venture that I am developing, the first prototypes are made by hand and I am developing a methodology to be able to mass manufacture them,” explained the also Tec graduate.

Although he had already designed an electric car, Urriza saw a more viable marketing opportunity with compact cars that could be used primarily by golf players.

“I have the option of investing in large cars or doing this project that is small-scale electric cars, not exactly for golf courses, but it is a good business. In addition, I integrate all the technology of the previous large car into a more compact model,” he added.

t's flying!". That was the victory cry of Ezequiel Sánchez, executive president of PLD Space, upon verifying that the Miura 1, the rocket designed by the company almost a decade ago, made history on October 7 by becoming the first space system developed by a private firm to be launched from Europe. “I was in the mission control room and I ran out to see it fly,” Sánchez tells Infobae España about his first reaction when he saw the rocket ascend that morning, in which all the difficulties he had also had come to mind. , his partners and the rest of the team had to go through to get to that moment. “I remembered many people who have helped us and also those who told us we couldn't do it,” he recalls. The mission met all the main objectives that had been set on the first attempt and, now, with the security that success provides, the company from Elche is heading towards new challenges.

The next goal they have set at PLD Space is to launch, in the first quarter of 2026 and this time on an orbital flight, the Miura 5, the rocket with which they will carry out commercial flights to transport small satellites into space, a business in boom in this new space age. In this way, the future launcher will be able to place small satellites in low orbits between 400 and 800 kilometers high, with a frequency of up to 15 flights per year. However, these launches will be carried out from the spaceport that the European Space Agency (ESA) has in Kourou, in French Guiana.

The company no longer plans takeoffs from Spanish territory for two reasons: first, because the flight of the Miura 1, designed as a prototype, has made it possible to verify the performance of the subsystems that will be used in its older brother and, although they are still weighing it, since The firm is inclined to rule out the need for a new launch. Second, the infrastructure that exists in the country does not have the capacity to launch rockets the size of the future Miura 5, two meters in diameter and made up of two stages that together exceed 30 meters in height.
1701137505694.png

Finally, and perhaps the most determining reason, it happens that Spain's geographical location is not good for accessing the orbits in which, in most cases, private companies and government organizations want to place their satellites. That is to say, our country lacks a commercially attractive position for space launches. “Kourou is a port that is very successful because it is very close to the Equator, from where you can access commercial orbits,” explains Sánchez.

Ángel García, Commercial Director of Lanix, talked about how they began to diversify to be able to face the “Goliaths” of the technology industry, by building an ecosystem that includes the sale of scooters, speakers, sweepers, computers, phones, televisions, and even air conditioners.
1701297437126.png

“Lanix is national capital, 100 percent Mexican. We are going to make technology and compete with large transnationals. In the last two years we began to diversify everything we did. We sell airs, we sell scooters, horns, sweepers. We have worked on the diversity of products, each segment has its own channel,” said García.

The Lanix executive explained that, for now, his strategy is to have a limited number in his catalog; For example, today they only have two models of smart sweepers, six of air conditioners, four scooters, three tablets and five smartphones, since this gives them the ability to focus their effort on each one, from design and manufacturing, to sale. .

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Brazilian planemaker Embraer said on Wednesday that Canada's Porter Airlines placed a firm order for an additional 25 E195-E2 aircraft for $2.1 billion.

The deal, which will be added to Embraer's backlog in the fourth quarter, adds to a firm order of 50 jets from Porter, with 25 more purchasing rights remaining.

Embraer has delivered 24 units of the jet to Porter, which has been flying the aircraft since earlier this year.

"These additional 25 orders enable us to continue extending our reach throughout North America, with more exciting new destinations," said Porter CEO Michael Deluce in a statement.

The world's third-largest planemaker behind Boeing and Airbus has been trying to make the passenger jet break into the U.S. market by showing carriers it can be used as a "small narrow-body".
